Helping Local Food Banks and Meals on Wheels Secure Funding When It’s Needed Most
Across the United States, food insecurity is rising at an alarming pace. Food banks and Meals on Wheels are facing surging demand, rising costs, and reduced government support. Nonprofit leaders are being asked to do more with less, just when their communities need them most.
At TrueSense Marketing, we believe no one should go hungry. That’s why we’re deploying an initiative called Chip In, Chip Away at Hunger on July 10, 2025, to support local food banks and Meals on Wheels programs across the country. This effort empowers people and communities to come together in meaningful action, providing immediate support for hunger relief at the local level.
Why Food Banks and Meals on Wheels Are Facing a Crisis
Community food providers are often the last line of defense for neighbors in crisis, and they provide more than just groceries: They offer stability, dignity, and hope. But today, many food programs operate under intense pressure. Several factors have contributed to this growing crisis:
- Record food insecurity: Recent data shows that millions of Americans are unsure where their next meal will come from. Neighbors who were already living paycheck to paycheck or on fixed incomes have seen food, rent, and utility costs skyrocket.
- Reduced support: Pandemic-era benefits and emergency funding have expired or been scaled back, leaving food-security organizations without the same level of public support they relied on during previous years.
- Rising operational costs: Inflation has made it more expensive to purchase food, transport goods, and run daily operations. Even the cost of essential supplies such as boxes, fuel, and refrigeration has increased significantly.
This “perfect storm” means these organizations need help right now. And they need it from donors who believe in the power of local solutions.
Why Local Giving Matters
When you give locally, your impact is immediate and personal. You’re not just donating to an organization — you’re helping your neighbors. You’re filling shelves at the food bank down the street. You’re making sure a child in your town doesn’t go to bed hungry. You’re ensuring that a senior has the nutritionally tailored meal they need, along with a friendly visit and well check. And you’re supporting the volunteers and staff members who keep these essential food-relief programs running year-round.
Local food banks and Meals on Wheels know their communities best. They understand where the gaps are. They can respond quickly to needs as they arise.
Introducing #ChipInChipAway
Chip In, Chip Away at Hunger is more than a fundraising campaign: It’s a nationwide call to action. On July 10, 2025, individuals, companies, and communities across the country will come together to support their local community food programs.
This day is designed to:
- Drive awareness about the hunger crisis happening in every state, city, and town.
- Encourage donations that directly support local food programs.
- Foster community engagement by inviting people to share, volunteer, and advocate for lasting solutions.
By focusing on one powerful day, we aim to create momentum and rally support at a critical time of year, when giving often slows but need continues to rise.
How TrueSense Supports Food-Relief Organizations
At TrueSense Marketing, we’ve partnered with nonprofit organizations for decades to help them secure the resources they need to fulfill their missions. We know that fundraising is not just about raising money — it’s about building trust, telling the right story, and engaging supporters in ways that feel personal and relevant.
Our work with community food programs has given us a front-row seat to the challenges these organizations face. We’ve helped launch donor acquisition campaigns, build monthly giving programs, and develop messaging that cuts through the noise. With Chip In, Chip Away at Hunger, we’re using our experience to amplify a cause that matters deeply to us and to our clients.
We’re also inviting our staff, partners, and networks to participate because we believe that lasting change starts with collective action.
